This whole thing with Bitwig is really getting out of control, and the installer change is symptomatic of a much larger problem.
We have the installer, we have UI rewrite, we have the Spectral Tools debacle, we have releases where we are force fed devices we don't know we needed, meanwhile we still can't do basic stuff in the arranger, MIDI comping we are still waiting for, crap is breaking left and right.
I was going to go for that Anniversary offer, but smelled a rat. Why? Because the anniversary offer came out well after the anniversary and instead of them celebrating their customers by maybe dropping some of the missing features we have been asking for, we get an offer to pay them money, and oh how jolly we should be about it. I might have done it if they had made some improvements to the arranger and other QoL aspects, but noooo, it was here have this compressor and a Pultec EQ.
It isn't that these things aren't cool. They are, but they are not what any of us have been asking for.
And this has been going on for years now.
They show nothing but contempt for their customers and community, treating us like we don't exist or don't matter, like they know best and we had better like it.
As good as this DAW is I'm really tired of their bullshit snobbery attitude.
They really need to pull their heads out of their own collective assholes and start giving a damn about us and what we want instead of whatever this is.
Oh and by the way, I bet it won't be too long before they drop the Linux build if this is what they are doing to lock down the platform on Windows.
I strongly urge people to start communicating their distaste for their practices both formally, informally and with their wallet. Also, as far as people who gave them pre-payments on their subscriptions, I too would want my money back, not just for this installer b.s. but for their general contempt.
As far as I am concerned personally, Bitwig is sufficiently done now so I can use it just for sound design and general weirdness going forward. Once my plan expires in Q4 that will be that unless things significantly change.
