NI aren't making anyone pay for anything. Just because they aren't planning on developing Reaktor further doesnt mean you're entitled to their intellectual property for free. Why would anyone stay in a such relationship and think they're doing something nice by making you pay anything for libraries that require a deprecated host?
$19 is about what I make for about15 minutes of work. If Reaktor stopped working in 3 months and I've had a few hours of fun noodling with what are great synths, I'm fine with it. But even better than that is the fact that Reaktor is likely to keep working for much, much longer than that.
This idea that anyone considers their interaction with a business as a "relationship" is totally irrational and goes a large way towards explaining the hysterical emotive arguments being made my people here who feel jilted by NI. Tbc, you're not in a relationship with them anymore than you are with the drive thru attendant at Mcdonalds.
On topic, today had a blast playing further with Razor and Kontour, the latter of which is really unique and interesting. Running this through Molekular and into Infiltrator 2 yielded mainly garbage but enjoyable, flow state inducing garbage. Thanks NI, I love you.
