Is it possible to remap the mod wheel to velocity and if yes, how?

Use a Note Grid, add a CC In module. By default it is set to CC1 (Modwheel), so no need to change its settings. Then connect it to the Velocity port of the Note Out module (3rd from the top).

Now you are good to go...
