I confirm everything, there are threads about this breakdown on Linuxmusicians and Cockos (REAPER) Linux subforum; I downgraded to 9.21 staging (tkg) and put wine packages on hold so they cannot be upgraded by apt. And it works again.
It's confirmed 9.22 broke many things badly and reportedly 10-rc1 seems no better...![:(]( "Sad")
