So, they decided to keep their source code closed. Why this doesn’t surprise me at all?
By making the code avaible, they would have gifted away one of their assets (if not their main asset). When the intellectual property is essentially gone, what’s left for a potential buyer (if there’s any)?
Call me cynical, but now their plugin doesn’t look just as a way to fundraise, but also as a way to appreciate their intellectual property and provide a potential new market when going through the company selling / liquidation process. Otherwise, how could you measure that value? On the unfinished / not delivered hardware products using that code? If I had to estimate the value of their i.p. I would use the number of plugin licenses they sold as one of the metrics…
